colors just don't exist. we all have different perceptions of a certain "color" and to justify having color we just say that there are various shades of that certain color. but in all honesty, color is just a social construct put in place because the society is always taught to label things. for example every thing on earth has a label.. just think of your name...

Lol wut, a color is a specific wavelength we can see on a spectrum called visible light, the titles are just names we make so we can tell other people things and they'll understand what the hell we're talking about. They very much exist.

Color can be quantified using a spectrophotometer which measures the spectral reflectance, transmittance, or relative irradiance of a color sample.

What about color blind people?
1 JulianAsausage 2018-09-13
They can use spectrometers too.

You’re right from a certain point of view. Very good philosophical debate if you have friends willing.

thank u very much jimmyuno. in fact my willing friends have repeatedly lost many times on this debate but this will definitely help back me up :)

I love thinking about this question: "How would you describe 'blue/yellow/red/green/whatevr to a blind person?"
1 archadile 2018-09-13
when u think about it, you can't actually ever describe color. Even if you can try to describe color, you may compare a generic item to the color you want to refer to. for example, plebs would say "the sky is blue" (sidenote- it really isn't we can argue about this separately).. so this just corroborates my claim bc how can you describe something that doesn't exist?!

Am I back in grade 2? lol
1 archadile 2018-09-13
i mean if you can't understand this post then maybe. but also being back in 2nd grade brings up the bigger issue with the social constructs being enforced upon u bc we were forced to use those crayola crayons which had specific "colors" ascribed to them. how evil is the education system smh

If you want to think about names just being labels just read some Richard Alpert (Baba Ram Dass). No conspiracy... just drugs.
1 archadile 2018-09-13
baba ram dass explored hinduism in india and psychedelic drugs in harvard.. what more could u want from the humblest spiritual guru?

How high are you?

the fun part is that my sober brain didn't need anything to come up with this. this is pure stimulating intellect

If colours doesnt exist why are we able to see different colours?
1 archadile 2018-09-13
that's the point... we just don't see color bc its not real

Lay off the acid mate
1 archadile 2018-09-13

A social construct?
1 spraguester 2018-09-13
Society isn't taught to label things, it is human nature. Society can't exist without communication and imagine trying to communicate without labels. The labels we choose are a social construct but that doesn't mean colors don't exists.
1 archadile 2018-09-13
society consists of humans. therefore social constructs are made by people within a society..which are indeed humans. so basically social constructs are part of human nature.
1 digdog303 2018-09-13
Alright, now convey the information in this post without using labels.
1 archadile 2018-09-13
i mean words are a social construct but we ultimately end up using them. i never said social constructs were bad i just said that they are a thing..
