Rule 13

1  2018-10-13 by misterteaa

Mods are big deleting big threads from the front page by claiming they don’t have Submission Statements, but they do.

Now I realize that we’re not allowed to criticize the Mods (so decreed the Mods), but this is not criticism. It’s an observation and or analysis.

Claim-

Obviously mods aren’t wrong, so this is not a criticism. I’m just trying to reinvert my reality. Please educate me.

Submission Statements- It seems he finally responded. It’s funny how we’re allowed to discuss censorship but not on this board itself. Anything can be removed under the guidelines of being “woefully inadequate”. Again, this is not a criticism, just an analysis.

They can also remove images they don’t like. Or anything they deem low effort. It’s all a bunch of CIA vagueness of language to do horrible things like nail ears to doors in Vietnam. “Go in there and do what you think you need to do”

Same shit different day.

I don't disagree with those posts being deleted.

But it seems odd to justify it with them not being a conspiracy when plenty of other non conspiratorial content makes it through with equally vapid submission statements.

In case you missed it, the crackdown has begun:

"Friendly Reminder: Please don't "half-ass" your Submission Statements. Statements lacking in substance or shorter than two sentences will be removed. Repeated use of poor statements can result in warnings and even bans." - https://old.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/9nkkh1/friendly_reminder_please_dont_halfass_your/

Not only does plenty of non-conspiracy stuff get posted here every day, the mods have made it very clear that posts don't actually need to be conspiracy related. In fact, axolotl_peyotl has said that it is considered "forum sliding" to even ask "where's the conspiracy?" on posts that might seem off topic.

https://np.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/8eykum/now_chance_the_rapper_is_also_red_pilling_the/dy00vfb/

While I disagree with Ax engaging in judging these account's history on the sub (attack the argument, not the user?), I have noticed that this is a recent phenomena imo.

It seems to be a campaign to gaslight potential contributors and to discourage the imagination and dot connecting abilities inherent here.

I just want a little bit of consistency and a clear definition of what is and isn't allowed. One day it seems like stuff is removed for not being a conspiracy, the next we are told that it's forum sliding to even question the relevance of a post. And then the next day we see stuff being removed for not being conspiracy related again.

Same goes for the submission statements. I'm glad that mods are paying more attention to this rule all of sudden because enforcement of this rule was very hit-or-miss before now. It seemed to completely depend on which mod responded to the report. Sometimes a two word SS was approved, sometimes a full paragraph wasn't good enough. The rule itself is very specific and clear, it's the enforcement that is lacking.

Ppl keep speculating when the sub will be pulled. I’ve noticed a lot of pickyness over what is in the SS.

SS1: Submission Statement- Hillary says they are nothing alike. It’s bizzare to compare the two. Bill has been litigated and is exhonarated.

What's the conspiracy? The allegations of sexual assault/rape between Bill Clinton and SC Justice Kavanaugh?

I don't know. Nothing involving a conspiracy is even hinted at. Sounds like something for /r/Democrats or /r/politics or /r/metoo. Why /r/conspiracy?

What's the conspiracy?

Sounds like you don’t know he definition of the word conspiracy. It certainly fits!

Define it.

An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act. n. A group of conspirators. n. Law An agreement between two or more persons to commit a crime or accomplish a legal purpose through illegal action.

Cool. Whats the conspiracy in your two OPs highlighted?

The hidden nefarious deeds being committed.

What is being hidden?

Rapes.

Rules for the elite.

bro that kind of post op is not welcome here. this is a place where cleverer people have worked out that the type of pulp you are posting is theater for the masses and we are well above that in here. stay here long enough and you start to understand that. we also know that bad actor types will post that shit to try confuse any new guys who happen our way. you don't want to be associated with that type now do you....

please get with the spirit of the sub. :D

Elaborate and your posts stay.

Stop being lazy

Hillary being hypocritical in the Kavanaugh situation and the media being against him.

Anthony getting out of jail because he’s one of the elite.

The one here being lazy isn’t me... this is horrendously obvious.

The conspiracy is that there are public leaders who are conspiring to enforce their doctrines selectively to favor their own people.

Thanks for helping out OP. Xe should take notes.

You were the only one confused.

You need to do a better job if you want your posts to succeed here.

That’s not part of the rules. You’re adding stuff on. Subjective stuff.

Resd the sidebar and the FAQ ;)

Proves my epic win

ok bud

You got it pal

I ain't your pal, friend.

I know. Am also not your friend.

I think what he's trying to say is that he's a shitty comedian using recycled jokes.

Probably.

I've never suspected you were, chum.

No one said so.

Xe as in black water?

I am unsure of their gender.

Ah. Not familiar with that one.

Not yet.

I put it on my list. Folks can certainly be very sensitive ...

Is using alt accounts (including mods) after a suspension against the rules ? Asking for a friend

Not that I am aware of.

So ban evasion is not a thing? That isn't against the ToS?

Want to show me where it says it?

Specifically?

Here's Reddit page on ban evasion. Check out that 1st & 3rd paragraphs.

"Ban evasion usually refers to a user being banned from a subreddit, then using an alternative Reddit account to continue participating on that subreddit"

"Both are a violation of our site-wide rules and could result in a Reddit-wide suspension."

I can't do that

Of course you can't, never said you could, you aren't an admin. But you can report ban evasions, if you read further down admins only accept ban evasion reports from mods.

Now back to the original question. Is using alt accounts (including mods) after a suspension against the rules?

How would I be able to determine they are alt accounts?

Well axolotl_peyotl always claims to have plenty of data about when a thread is being brigaded (questionable though because he never shows any of it).

I figure you'd be able to recognize linguistic styles, common phrases, timing of activity to provide enough to bring the report.

But I really don't care what criteria you use, you are only filing a report. An admin with more access would provide the final determination.

So, are you just learning today that ban evasion is against Reddit's rules?

They do xpost a lot.

I figure you'd be able to recognize linguistic styles, common phrases, timing of activity to provide enough to bring the report.

I can.

They don't care. It's not worth my time.

So, are you just learning today that ban evasion is against Reddit's rules?

Quite the contrary.

https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/9nwo6h/rule_13/e7pvlty/

Then why did you say you weren't aware that ban evasion was against the rules?

Where was that stated?

Wow, you aren't even trying. The comment you replied to has links to the comments, but you keep doing you buddy.

Your links are trash.

And I'm not your buddy

Aw, come on. We can still be buddy, right pal?

And if my links are trash, you are calling the subreddit you mod trash. Is that what you are saying?

Aw, come on. We can still be buddies, right pal?

My apologies. It looks lik your account on link y has 3 entries in it now. Tough to make a call on such a amall sample size.

And if my links are trash, you are calling the subreddit you mod trash.

That just means you link trash. Thanks for acknowledging.

Is that what you are saying? Edit: Which would be breaking rule 10, wouldn't it? Can you even possibly ban yourself?

No, and this is utterly pathetic.

Oh, I only have link x, not link y (must be a mod thing). But anyways, we're buddies now right?

So, I linked to "trash" (your words) comments on your sub. Why allow trash comments to stay on your sub? Do you want to be represented like that?

Someone asked if you knew ban evasion was wrong, you replied that no you didn't know that. I've just been trying to help you learn something today. I really hope I've helped.

FYI, it's OK to learn things. If you just learned ban evasion is against the rules, it's cool, you learned something today, it wasn't a waste.

I can.

No you can't.

They don't care. It's not worth my time.

Yes they do, and yes it is.

Quite the contrary.

I'm not seeing that anywhere.

Cool story, br0.

Oh, I dunno, like a long...and I mean looooong stretch of proven alts, mod complicity and/or endorsement for them being here.

Would you care to proceed or escalate?

And think carefully on using that knee-jerk checker move, it could result in a whole lot of fallout.

Oh, I dunno, like a long...and I mean looooong stretch of proven alts, mod complicity and/or endorsement for them being here.

That's a lot of assumptions. Perhaps the actual employees of this site?

Would you care to proceed or escalate?

We can.

Proven goes beyond the pale of assumption, so your chosen phrasing or deflection is useless. No, we're now talking about people like /u/putin_loves_cats and many others.

We can.

Ill-advised for you, but go ahead and tighten your boots, champ.

I'm as worried as a huckleberry and we'll all be just fine at the end of this.

I only asked as i saw that a mod was banned the other day and shortly after a well know poster who had been banned had that lifted by another mod and also more post from another mod that had been quiet for a while

Just a conspiracy theory about conspiracy :)

I agree, this is a blatant abuse of the rules.

The difficulty maintaining objectivity in enforcing this rule comes here:

Should explain or elaborate on why the link is being posted to /r/conspiracy and why the userbase should care about it.

This could mean anything to anybody.

As much as I understand the conspiracy activism that drives the moderators on this board to want to control the material that flows through, I can't help but feel that they have become another fascist cabal bent on censoring to their hearts desires.

One could only hope they would be objective and respond to criticism when it is being abused.

Know what I mean?

I applaud you for your response to these criticisms. There is honour in your actions, considering your position.

There is no doubt amongst any of us that you are in a position which makes you a constant target of criticism. Few of us envy your position, methinks.

Despite that, I ask that you consider that what you and others have convinced yourselves of is for the benefit of truth, may be a miscalculation.

Also you didn't address the core of my criticism with Rule 13 which is that it gives undue consideration to moderator discretion regarding any alleged infraction.

I criticize the mods all the time. I also give them credit where credit is due.

I've stated and maintain that rule 13 is bullshit. Rule ten should go fuck itself also, what are we a bunch of thin skinned pussies?
