The fools on the reddit main have no idea that thimerosal has been banned from vaccines in Russia, Great Britain, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, and Japan. The ignorance from the groupthink on the main is overflowing simply because they want the feeling of superiority.

I have no idea how they can make outlandish claims that reach huge karmic upticks. I simply cannot comprehend how they can live such a foolish existence devoid of inquiry, investigation, and the search for true understanding. It seems that most people would rather support their notions than be right and just.

Good thing it hasn't been used in virtually all vaccines in the US since 2001 then, eh?

Here is a list from John Hopkins of the vaccines containing thimerosal and mercury. Dated December 2009

You're right, but that was the bitchiest way to state your point. Way to go.

Actually, I am angry as shit, and I am nothing like you imagine. If you would like to call me a bitch to my face, I live in Houston and would be 100% willing to make arrangements to discuss how you feel.

Sure thing, internet tough guy.

This thread is golden. I think this is one of the first times I've seen someone on reddit repeatedly try to meet for a fight. Reddit != high school, so take some prozac chief.

The US is militaristic and extremely nationalistic. We Americans are indoctrinated to think that the US is superior in all areas, in all things.

Thinking that life is better, safer in other countries or that other gov'ts function more democratically and protect people better is just simply an idea that Americans cannot swallow -- it contradicts the non-stop barrage of nationalistic rhetoric and the way people have been programmed to think of the world.

Except banning thimerosol does not make life better, or a government more democratic...

Obviously, I was referring to the broader notion of "American exceptionalism".

However, since thimerosol has been accused of causing autism, I bet many mothers of autistic children would describe their life as better if the US gov't worked to actually protect people and was not focused almost exclusively on protecting corporate profits.

since thimerosol has been accused of causing autism

Accusations =/= proof. The same mothers insist its gluten doing it to their kids. Which one is it? I personally don't care much one way or the other, but the way this post berates people who dont agree with OP was downright silly.

The same mothers insist its gluten doing it to their kids. Which one is it?

This is a false choice fallacy.

Great. So what happened to the autism rates in those countries?

Here is an idea, instead of a fallacy of ad populo (lots of other people did it) or attacking the entire U.S., show some evidence regarding the affect of dropping thimerosal. Did it help or hurt anything? Raise or lower costs? That they decided to do this is not relevant at all to our decision, what happen when they did is relevant.

Here's a link to a lot of information about thimerosal, all of it calling into questions its safety:

Political infiltration groups now make up 3.7% of all reddit accounts, up from 1.4% last year.

Ummm...

You're really being a dick about this. No one will want to listen to you, no matter how right you are, if you're a self-righteous jerk.

Actually you're just a pussy.

No, you're right, gukeums. As much as I'd like calling you a pussy, with the way things work, it's difficult to get anywhere in life without constantly manipulating others by masking your thoughts to keep them pacified and in line. So, it's hypocrisy and treachery for the win. And it's the sort of treatment that you and your kind deserve, gukeums.

Go fuck yourself.

Thimerosal is not banned from vaccines in Sweden, (Unfortunately). Still, get your facts straight.

So a handful of countries, one of which I'd never trust to do anything right, bans a substance that the rest of the world hasn't...and you're going on about foolish existences and true understanding...have I missed something?

Even in your part of reddit they agree that Scandinavia is probably the most progressive part of the World. Excellent universal healthcare, environmental standards and a higher standard of living than just about anywhere else. But with a track record like that what would those snowmobile jockeys know about pharmaceutical safety?

Im not big on my part of reddit's fetish with Scandinavia on those fronts either, but you've got to admit listing the nordic states, russia, the UK and japan does leave out much of the industrialized world...making an argument resting solely on those states seems weak to me.

I don't get your point at all. Did their rate of autism drop when they did this? Was there some noticeable change in any negative or positive aspect? That some countries did this and some did not is a political issue, it has not bearing on the scientific merits of the question. (Never mind that it was banned from childhood vaccines in the U.S. years ago and there was no drop in autism rates at all.)

That's because even if they don't include mercury in them, they're still processed with mercury. Nice try, shill.

It is the memory of mercury that matters, right? The ghost of mercury in the vaccine causes autism.

Bitch

Grow up. Name calling not only doesn't help points you try to make, it makes you look dumb and childish.

Marshall you facts, make your points, make sure you're consistent and follow up on counter points.

i.e. Man up or shut up.

You're a whining bitch with a cock in your ass.

There you go again. Can't cure stupid (or reason with it).

Reason is an escape for people that lack the courage to fight. You're a little bitch, and that's all there is to it.

I live in Houston, an am willing to meet you in person.

Ewww, creeper. I live in Haiti and am sort of preoccupied at the moment.

I live on the moon and am collecting space dust at the moment.

Reddit is serious business. Stay hasty.
