Radiation Poisoning in Buffalo, NY area
102 2012-06-14 by [deleted]
One of my wife's paramedic friends in the Buffalo area contacted her tonight about two patients with confirmed radiation poisoning. Two rigs were confiscated. My wife's friend said there were multiple federal agencies involved and that they couldn't say more because they were being watched. They've since gone dark and are unreachable.
Does anyone have more information? This happened within the last three hours.
Update: I still haven't heard back from them. I'll see if my wife can get a hold of them at some point today.
Update 2: Still no more information. Googling is fruitless. Hopefully by tonight I can get some answers; if not then, soon.
Final Update: Sorry, but all I could get was "[They] can't talk about it."

Upvoted for interest, please keep us posted, my naughty news tentacles have not picked up anything remotely close to this.

Radon gas build up in their home?
Edit: Just thinking about it if there was a radon gas build up and you were exposed to it you would feel sick. But i doubt at that point you would call an ambulance you would probably figure it to be a virus or something and spending a couple of days on the sofa furthering their exposures.

No, no. Radon gas might cause cancer due to long-term exposure, but people do not get acute radiation poisoning from radon gas.

Federal Agencies are showing up for Radon exposure AND monitoring treatment... fucking figures.

Can we get clarification on the meaning of "rigs"? I would assume 18-wheeler truck rigs, but there was some confusion. Any updates would be great.

Thanks for the 411 since seeing this I have been reading over your posts and comments and now respect you and your opinion more rather than less.
Also you have been posting for four years and this sort of post is out of character for you.

What I mean is that you have 4 years of good natured non muck raking posts unlike me. My current User has much less time on reddit and my posts are mostly of a muck raking nature. So I take what you are saying seriously.

Is there anyone who has a Geiger counter? surely anyone in the field of Medicine should have some sort of connection. I don't understand the rigs that were confiscated, where? any more info will help us to help you. Also if you can get any pictures or proof it would be very helpful. Also any idea where the victims were originally from.

The closest one I can think of is Ginea outside of the eastside of Rochester. This is kind of concerning though because I do live in Rochester and if there is something going on in Buffalo all of western NY should probably be made aware.
There was a post sometime last week about radiation levels being elecated someplace in the midwest, I wonder if the wind carried it to Buffalo?

Any new developments?

I live right outside Buffalo in the suburbs, 20-30 minutes away from the city limits, right on the borders of the 'country' region of WNY. I have a friend who lives downtown in an apartment on Elmwood Ave - he has a geiger counter that was his dad's, who is the fire chief in some surrounding suburb, and he was telling me just the other day it made no sense because it was reading so high - he told me it was way too high and must have been broken or something.
He liked playing around with it, but just walking down Elmwood it was way higher than normal background radiation should be - he thought it needed to be recalibrated or something and figured it was broken. Maybe it's not.

Don't know if this is related but your post says "two rigs were confiscated" if they are talking about truckers, they may have been transporting radioactive waste of some kind. Upvoting because I'm also upstate NY and will be following your story.

I believe what was meant by two rigs was not tankers, but ambulances.

Could this be something from the West valley Demo project?

Perhaps they were out in the rain too much.

Also was expecting something like this to be reported on the west coast but anyway. If you're looking for some mitigation tips try here:

Could this be related to the South Bend, IN "radiation spike"?

Oh no, not again, lol

yeah well my dad's friend claimed he had to pilot a burning passenger jet to a crash landing without landing gear on a runway and gets free plane tickets for life on any delta plane, but that doesn't make it true.

I live about an hour away from Buffalo. We have a few people in our area who have so much radio equpiment in their vehicles they have radiation sickness. The guy have a truck with about $30,000 of CB, weather radar, etc...

Are you aware of the difference between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation? Communications equipment can't cause radiation sickness.

Wait... radiation poisoning from radios? Someone gave you some misinformation I believe. Cancer MAYBE... radiation poisoning... not unless it the equipment runs off Ooze.
