What do you guys think about Reddit lately?

17  2012-07-11 by [deleted]

There has been a large influx of stories that we on /conspiracy have been discussing for a while on or near the front page. For example This, or This my favorite part is the title that includes "police state." I do think that some people are beginning to "open their eyes."
What do you guys think?

Edit: I am a terrible speller and can't type.

Reddit has always been infiltrated by bots, political parties, PR firms and trolls (especially since the virtual demise of DIGG).

As the 2012 U.S. Presidential election gets closer we will see a marked increase in activity from the left and right paradigm / Hegelian dialectic forming up to influence the common "joe plumber" American citizen.

Other than this, its business as usual.

Well like we have discussed on here before. I always see "anti-Romney" stuff, but never anti-obama stuff.

Edit: to clarify I mean on Reddit in general not this subreddit.

I been seeing lots of "FUCK Islam" shit going on for the past few weeks. Much much more than usual.

I wish there were more of that.

That was because /r/atheism decided they were going to attack Islam.

I mean a little bit before that, too. I mean, really, the last 10 years has technically been "Fuck Islam, support the wars", but I personally have just picked up on more of it in the last few months.

I will believe in the convictions of the atheists when they become equal opportunity haters. Curiously, they never insult the "chosen" Jews. I wonder why that is?

This issue is discussed often in /r/atheism. Please use the search function.

That is very true. Most likely because they will all be labeled at "antisemitic." On another note... Are there any words for hating other religions i.e Islam or Christianity?

I dont think so. Maybe they should make one up. The word antisemite has been a great mind control technique to quash rational thought and free speech.

/r/exmuslims had asked /r/atheism why they only go after christians and not other religiong then suggested that they make anti-islam posts so they said sure why not

Hard to say, I remember back in the days Digg had a lot of story on 911 cover up ranking at a few thousand every day, they later arrange that and no other conspiracy things got on front page, not to say that its the same here, just nostalgia...

I do think people are generally more awake here on Reddit that back on Digg, there so many great conversation and intellectual here but when there a tread on vaccine it's really depressing.

I've noticed r/politics have been slowly accepting that something is wrong... We need this libore scandal blows up and everyone opens their eyes.

Libor*

But that doesn't matter people forget. Just like they did 5 years ago with the market crash.

Walmart had two first ranking /all (with no logged-on account) posts in the last week polyester hamburger shirts from Walmart. Walmart Fly trap! 1 and 3 days old. Maybe when all of the front page is bots it will be easier to see, somtimes its more then 50% now

I didn't even notice that. I remember the posts, but I didn't look into it. I usually only reserve that for the pro war, pro occupation stuff. For example the "soldiers coming home" stuff.

Obviously Wal Mart is shilling bug catchers and hamburger shirts

I think the bulk is very liberal. Young age, no experience...

I would agree, but no experience with what?

Reality of the world around them

That is what "they" want.

Well, r/pics is upvoting Sarah Palin pictures today. I think that says enough about the current state of reddit.

Yeah, but bulldog...

Take a shitty person and photograph them with something cute. Reddit will love it.

Yeah, but she can see Russia from her front door.

I remember, and that very comment was repeated quite frequently in the lovely bulldog post. Followed by plenty of humanizing Palin anecdotes from fellow Alaskans.

I hate my country most of the time.

And don't forget... George Bush loves African kids.

I'm sure that boy was bathed and deloused before being allowed anywhere near them.

Don't forget vaccinated.

and chemically castrated.

I am an Alaskan and fuck Palin in the soul with a rabid badger.

One thing I want to mention is that summer will affect sites like 4chan and reddit, combine with asshole moderation and cliquey reddit drama in the big subs, and I think people will come to /r/conspiracy for alternative news. Hopefully this place keeps its feet on the ground, so to speak.

That is why I like it here. It is just another way to look at thing besides the "mass media." That being said I do not watch news at all anymore. If I do it is usually RT or Aljazeera.

We went from “imagining” ideas of our own theories to now bookmarking news articles and news pages that actually show our theories in action.. crazzzzy. To me it seems as things are starting to line up and come together. We are just observant to the world, but with this information flux all this information can only be hidden for so long.

I've also notices a upbeat attack on people that post things, Agent Smith on the kybrd??

Another note... /r/conspiracy actually made it to the front page a few days ago. I really think that says a lot.

one of the most popular subreddits, /r/worldnews, has been taken over by the agents and propagandists of the racist colonial apartheid state of Israel. Watch them remove every piece of news not favorable to Israel and how they promote their silly propaganda in their comments and downvote everything else.

I think this is something to worry about. This is essentially a form of brain washing. The pounding of one side with no real perspective

Pet rocks are the shit...

Honestly, I think Reddit is just becoming massively popular.

Discussion wasn't perfect years ago, but it really is just the mecca of online forum-like discussion at the moment, you're going to see all different kinds of people.

Being new to the conspiracy side of reddit and recently watching the the zeitgeist series, has much of /r/conspiracy seen them and are they well respected (for lack of a better word)?

Like I said before, I have just watched the series and while I do not take them to be 100% truth I find that the overall message has to be a partial truth.

Sorry about being pretty much completely off topic

I believe most of us here have seen it if they have been here for a while. I personally have.

I didn't even notice that. I remember the posts, but I didn't look into it. I usually only reserve that for the pro war, pro occupation stuff. For example the "soldiers coming home" stuff.
