check the last 4 submission all newly created redditors with no history.
I noticed after seeing that the most recent post had about 30 upvotes and I was the only commenter.
What do you think
edit.. looking down the first page of govtslaves.info submissions a large percentage were made by more or less newly created accounts with no other submissions , no comment karma.
edit 2. looking further the pattern stays the same, although the older submissions didnt do very well but more recent ones have.
edit 3 here is the list of every govtslaves.info submitter . the ones without ,,,,, after follow the suspicious pattern i mention. maybe this sort of thing is more common than i thought , ive never really bothered to look at stuff like this. maybe i am being naieve and all sites do stuff like this.. 95% of the submissions are by a different account , who just makes one submission , no comments.

Good catch, I will say this is very odd indeed. The only thing I have to say is that, maybe we have a redditor who has solved something :o

I guess you cannot blame people for trying to promote their stuff if that is what is happening. It's just that it seems as though the recent submissions are doing pretty well which makes me wonder if they have indeed managed to work out how to cheat. The other evidence suggest they are acting suspiciously so gaming would not be a surprise but only the admins would be able to say if there was some suspicous voting going on.
I'd concede that its possible there is no gaming going on as their methodology does not seem all that sophisticated and succesful gaming probably would need to be quite clever to beat the anti cheating algorithm (if you drink the admin koolaid)

Well, we cannot forget the obvious downvote brigade that marches through on certain posts. I am sure that has a lot to do with it. You see some people comment on things and NEVER see them again. You can also notice the same style of responses by some people just different names.

i posted about fluoride yesterday a few times in a different thread. All posts were +6-8 according to RES. Wake up this morning and they're all 0 or negative. Just seemed very strange, especially since fluoride usually gets bashed here anyway

There is definitly a downvoting brigade at night. I seriously get up in the morning to see how many times I was downvoted through out the night. It's cray

Could be.

something strange is afoot at the circle k

They also block you for using Tor, which I've not seen outside imgur & google. Does suggest some kind of intel gathering, maybe...
4 hddtmrutc 2012-07-16
whoa. Imgur, google, facebook, godlikeproductions, 4chan. Try to use tor with those sites. For that matter, VPN's. Godlike, nope (they tell you to quit stalking people). 4chan, nope (they tell you that your IP has been banned for child porn). Facebook, sometimes. Reddit doesn't block any traffic, as far as I can tell. At least at the user level.
3 [deleted] 2012-07-16
My ip is banned from godlike. I heard they block mobile internet.
1 [deleted] 2012-07-16
That is interesting. I think 4chan.org blocks tor too. It def. blocks posting , I remember that.

I upvoted the story because I thought it deserved it.
Indeed.
8 [deleted] 2012-07-16
yes, and you submitted one of
theretheir stories too. no problem with that. You do not find it strange that almost every submission of theirs is from a different user who makes no comments or other submissions and creates the account at the same time as the submission.
edit.. their not there.
-1 OWNtheNWO 2012-07-16
IDK if they have some racket, it's plausible, I got my story from FB. The info seemed solid though.

It just seems like spam to drive traffic to their website. Bring it up with a mod at /r/reportthespammers. I'm sure they've seen this sort of thing before.
3 [deleted] 2012-07-16
I was thinking that this is not really spam as it is relevant to the sub. I take spam to be inappropriate linking , driving traffic as you say.
2 billsang1 2012-07-16
I like the submissions that have over 200 votes and no comments. That's strange to me.
1 [deleted] 2012-07-16
I do think some of these could just be people who are just making alt accounts and/or registering just to post the link. Others...seem pretty peculiar.
3 [deleted] 2012-07-16
Who creates a new profile to just post one link? and never use the account again. I understand creating a novelty account to make a funny comment, but cannot quite understand creating a new account to post a link. What is the purpose of that?
1 [deleted] 2012-07-16
Well I know dozens of redditors, and one person I know has done that, just to post it without people he personally knows knowing that he posted them. But that doesn't speak for all of these at all, some of these are just weird o.o
2 [deleted] 2012-07-16
Most of them seem pretty similar. only the ones with ,,,, seem like regular used accounts. What ones are weird compared to non weird ?
1 [deleted] 2012-07-16
Errr, I opened this before the edits so I suppose I should have f5'd before posting ;p it seems more like an attempt to gain hits on their site now that I see the edits.
The weird ones were the brand new accounts, I didnt see the edit with the commas for clarity - totally my fault im sorry.

It's been a lot longer than this, though. Do you honestly think that since ~circa 2010 that reddit hasn't been watched and monitored? We may occasionally see stories that are 'big,' but the important stuff, the stuff that would change your whole perspective on the game if you looked at it hard enough, is either removed outright, buried, or down voted into oblivion. And our attention spans are so fucking small that it's not like we're ever going to notice.
Reddit is just too damned big.
4 Valimar77 2012-07-16
Well there are times when it is worse than others.
For example If you see a story on how JP Morgan joins forces with the Rothchilds merging into one huge conglomerate world bank, AMAZINGLY it gets very little views and comments. Yet you will find a plethora of old disinfo links and fluff on here daily.
Best thing to do is to scourge the new submissions / controversial tabs from time to time to see what real news slips between the bot / shill down votes.
Hopefully there will be an i-net revolution within the next few years where patriots can distill info and disseminate it to others around the globe.
2 [deleted] 2012-07-16
Clearly whatever is happen in the case of the subject of this submission is an example of somewhat manipulative behaviour, it doesn't look very sophisticated and the failure of older submissions to do well indicates they have not been all that pervasive but to me it reminds us of what can be happening. If as you say we are under attack , I am presuming you are talking about disinformation. Are you able to say what other methods are being employed and anything you have noticed or are aware of ?

Who cares if the info the site produces is good and relevant.
5 [deleted] 2012-07-16
Well , you never know what can be dug up when you spot something.
-3 TheEternalNeophyte 2012-07-16
It's probably a coincidence.
