You remember the Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans Louisiana? The military went door to door and disarmed every legal law abiding firearms owner in the entire city at gunpoint. So did multiple federal police agencies.
100% compliance from all citizens who were disarmed.
Do you think, for one moment, that a nation of pissed off , well informed citizens would let this happen again? on a nation-wide scale? well i would hope not.
The country has yet to stop the TSA from molesting their kids. If they won't act to protect their children, they aren't going to throw that much of a fuss for their guns.
If they try this throughout the US it will be the beginning of a revolution. I know too many people that would die before they would allow themselves to be disarmed... and that is just an amazingly small portion.
edit: adding... The logical masses know they would not be disarmed for their own benefit. It would be the straw that brakes the back of the workers/taxpayers/slaves/citizens.
Most of the people who are supposed to actually be responsible for "taking our guns" are police officers, the police officers i know have their own small armory/collection themselves, and a pretty decent group of like minded coworkers/friends. I don't think they would partake in disarming anyone, let alone be responsible for removing their own defenses. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
All this talk about the 2nd amendment being insurance against a tyrannical government is all good and I do put stock into that idea but when\if it plays out no one will be the winner. Who are you going to be using those gun on? Other American citizens. Are you really gonna shoot the FBI agent or local sheriff that comes knocking, looking for guns. That's the solution? To kill our fellow statesman? It's a fucking shame because the senators, congressman, and other government officials that gives these orders will not be the ones going door to door. Those are the true enemies, the people going door to door are essentially the messengers. It sounds good on paper, but when actually played out, the result will be Americans killing Americans.
Personally, I hope the military gets called in to protect us from the police. I think the only way the US can really have a successful revolution is with a coup d'etat. I expect the LAPD to open fire in a crowded theatre. Our military would never kill Americans on American soil.
I wish I could believe you. I unfortunately know a hand full of people that are in the military that would do whatever they were told to regardless of what it was. I'm sure there are plenty more too :/
This is the kind of shit officials use to pin crimes on people. They will use this as just another piece of evidence that it was you that went on that shooting a year from now. I would be careful saying stuff like this.
I think that guns should be mandatory item for everyone who is of sound mind and lacks a violent criminal background. We should educate our children about how to use, maintain and respect them. The i think that bullets should cost $5,000.00 a piece. That way the senseless killings would cease, and if you found someone who was shot 10 times you would know they deserved it.
$5000.00 a piece ammo? That's essentially the same as just banning guns. The only people that could afford that are the ones that want us unarmed anyway.

I think you are both making cogent points. Americans are at the breaking point though.

Since when are we pissed off and well informed? Pretty sure the general populous is complacent and dumb.

Yeah, but that only works on the people that are dumb enough not to hide them.

No, the military did not go door to door -- BLACKWATER went door to door.

Wrong.

That's comparing such a different situation than the government literally trying to remove everyone's guns from their homes in the entire country.
If they attempted to do this throughout the entire country, it would be a completely different story than the Katrina aftermath.

It's a no win situation.

We need to rig guns to explode if the serial numbers are defaced.

I'll cross my heart, although i refuse to "hope to die".

1 frostek 2012-07-27
The gubmint will force you to buy one, probably at gunpoint, then confiscate it from you. ;-)
