I notice something about r/conspiracy
45 2012-08-31 by Alwaysfrazzled
In new to r/conspiracy and I cannot even stand going back to r/politics. In here you actually have people (in more cases at least) that are willing to be open minded than in r/politics (probably more factual info here too). Most people I think would guess that r/politics would be filled with more normal people. Not so! They are closed minded nut cases that will never look at both sides. They have already made up their minds before looking at any facts. Thank you conspiracy for being the least crazy of the two!

Some of us are quite proud of our standing...
...and yes, I consider myself a resident troll or /r/conspiracy
1 VerbalJungleGym 2012-08-31
Why?
1 [deleted] 2012-08-31
Look, /r/conspiracy is a CONINTELPRO playground, primarily because it tends to attract a large number of useful idiots.
The dissonant, mocking voices in /r/conspiracy keep conspiracy analysis grounded using high standards of "evidence" with the eventual target goal of raising the analysis above the level of "conspiracy".
2 VerbalJungleGym 2012-08-31
I rather took that first part for granted. But it has more effect than voting in an election.
The second is also true.
This is why we need to organize the information here into easily accessible infographics that are more easily digested and more challenging to dismiss.

I like my abbreviation better...
...it has the "CON" in right up front.

how easily you've con'vinced me, yours is better.

Could you pm it to me? I lurk here a bit and have gained some pretty interesting facts/ interpretations of current events through this sub reddit. Some of it is fairly out there ie- attacks at the Olympics ect
But in saying that I think this sub reddit is full of objective people, much like my self.

It's just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get btw.
2 VerbalJungleGym 2012-08-31
That's a more specific form of the more general 'Just cause you're crazy doesn't mean you're wrong'.

Reasonably paranoid.
7 egypturnash 2012-08-31
Stick around a while, you'll start seeing the paranoids here as well. And the folks who see the Illuminati EVERYWHERE.
I advise reading Illuminatus! before proceeding further down this road. Pay particular attention to the bits where the enigmatic phrase "No wife, no horse, no mustache" comes up, and the Appendices.
3 archonemis 2012-08-31
Upvoted for the Robert Anton Wilson recommendation.
I once read a book in which he gave some sort of test with multiple choice questions. I answered them in my head and started looking for the index in which he'd show the correct answers. So as to see whether or not I was right. When I got to the back of the book I burst out laughing.
It's still one of my favorite jokes.

There are Discordians in our midst. I knew I loved this place.
-1 egypturnash 2012-08-31
Grains of salt galore.
But on the other hand it sure is a great place to find out about other people's reality tunnels! Fnord. n.
(And on the gripping hand, do you really want to trust anyone who describes herself as an "occasional agent of the global media complex"? Maybe I'm just here to sow plausible doubt and get you to believe what They want you to believe. 👽)
1 archonemis 2012-08-31
Yes, I keep spoon-fulls of salt along with a couple shots of whiskey at hand.
This place is a madhouse. An informative madhouse, though.
(Twenty three scadoo!)
0 egypturnash 2012-08-31
You manage with just whiskey? You're made of stronger stuff than I am. Hail Eris. n.n
0 archonemis 2012-08-31
Whiskey, will power and a sense of humor.
The biggest stumbling block is when you accidentally think something is "real."
This usually wears off after half an hour. But that half hour usually sucks.
Hence the emergency whiskey.

Please don't. I've done nothing worthy of praise.

In my opinion, there's a fine line between "documenting a conspiracy", "theorizing about one", and "spinning paranoid fantasies". It's up to you where to decide that line is. And of course there can be a grain of truth in the middle of that pearl of crazy, too.
Also keep in mind that you are talking to someone who has voluntarily chosen to label herself as an "occasional agent of the global media conspiracy". Hey, maybe I really am one, and am being open about it as an experiment to see just how far we can pull the wool over your eyes.
Or maybe I'm just trying to warn the OP that the rabbit hole is deeper than he thinks, and that Wonderland is not exactly known for its lack of mad people.
1 [deleted] 2012-08-31
I like to keep my mind close. It makes thinking easier.
1 [deleted] 2012-08-31
but havent you seen dave chapelle out the illuminati? /s
-2 tavistock_rocks 2012-08-31
So the illuminti doesn't exist? You must either be blind or very stupid.
1 tilfordkage 2012-08-31
I think he was meaning that they aren't everywhere. That dude that gave you a funny look while walking down the sidewalk? Probably not an Illuminati spy. He probably just had gas and was making sure you didn't hear him fart.
1 egypturnash 2012-08-31
She. But yes. n.n
1 egypturnash 2012-08-31
Actually I am pretty sure there are people out there who call themselves "The Illuminati", and that there are people who wield more power than they should and try to control the masses. There may even be some intersection between those two sets of people.
I dunno about the Illuminiti, though.
4 Head_of_Lettuce 2012-08-31
Be careful with r/conspiracy. As someone else mentioned, there are trolls who will post something as fact, when clearly it isn't. Remember to always fact check anything you read on r/conspiracy, thoroughly. Most of what is said here is vastly blown out of proportion or quote mined, as well.
3 JestersTrek 2012-08-31
"They are closed minded nut cases that will never look at both sides. They have already made up their minds before looking at any facts. "
Is it just me, or does anyone else feel this is what "normal" people have pretty much become these days?
1 [deleted] 2012-08-31
Sad but what else can we expect from someone brainwashed by corporate media...
1 dromni 2012-08-31
Throughout human history "normalness" was always about conforming blindly to the mainstream opinions, without questioning them.
Ah by the way, I would suggest the movie "Cabin in the Woods" for the next week. Because the only person in the film that actually infers what is really hapenning is "the crazy guy". ;)
3 herpaderp2026 2012-08-31
This is also true about some folks here. You just gotta learn to discern, as it were.
Welcome to r/Conspiracy! :)

-3 SilentNick3 2012-08-31
Nigger is a racial slur against black people. Are you that fucking stupid? Or perhaps you are a naive moron. This is /r/conspiracy after all, so I'm gonna go with "moron". Yes, I am saying you are a moron, in case your tiny brain is too ill-equipped to handle "big boy talk". Do me (and the world) a favor and commit suicide. It's clear you have nothing to add to society. Bye bye now.
1 frostek 2012-08-31
Hey, just because I'm from the UK doesn't mean I call you guys "Yanks", you know.
2 tilfordkage 2012-08-31
As someone that also fairly recently joined, let me warn you about something.
Be careful when asking for evidence. Some people here seem to frown on that, but a few others are trying to stop that and push for facts.
1 Alwaysfrazzled 2012-08-31
People that frown on evidence can kiss my ass. Evidence is evidence even if it's not what you wanted to learn.

OP, here's one of the aforementioned trolls. Ignore him and his r/conspiratard ilk.
Edit- aaaand he's a crazy stalker who makes personal insults without adding anything of any real substance.
Judging from how much time he just spent stalking me, I think he kinda likes me! (even though I'm not an oily homosexual man who rolls around with other oily men on tv for fun, as he is such a fan of)

0 [deleted] 2012-08-31
SilentNick3 is part of Israel's inept imitation of the US's old COINTELPRO program. His mission is to make personal attacks. Period. Nothing else. Because the Israelis are so inept at this, they have to divide each of their respective tasks into micromanaged activities because not a single one of them has the intellectual ability to act alone. SilentNick3 is a point-man for this process. When he appears with his verbal abuse, you can expect others to follow.

Being Jewish isn't a bad thing, no more than being Catholic. It's just a belief system that some people find comforting.
The real issues arise when you start believing that being part of that group makes you more important that other people.

Not at all. A better question, more appropriate to the context, would be: Do you trust Jews? Amirite?
Considering the current state of affairs, that's not really possible anyway, is it?
